“I want to apologize to all the women I have called pretty before I’ve called them intelligent or brave. I am sorry I made it sound as though something as simple as what you’re born with is the most you have to be proud of. When your spirit has crushed mountains. From now on I will say things like, “you are resilient” or, “you are extraordinary.” Not because I don’t think you’re pretty, but because you are much more than that.” | Rupi Kaur
Gah, this quote makes me feel vulnerable, powerful, proud, scarred, heard and uplifted all at once. How often do we entertain the concept of being just one thing, and we heavily criticise this one thing, which has taken our focus prisoner, as if this one thing is not enough either.
I wish for all the women around me to feel their power, feel their spirit uplifted. To see their beauty and mirror this to another. To hear love and gratitude around them and if by chance it is not there, create it with vigor. To breath IN their life, like it is the very air they need to survive, find their gifts and live to their highest potential.
